Larry Aubut - Adanac Cadavers. (2001) I am currently 45 and have been playing strat since I was 12, have been in numerous f/f and play by mail leagues since 1973. The longest current league is the classic wich is in its 12th year. I have been married for 22 years and have 2 daughters, both currently attending school. One is 19 and the other is 14. I don't know how my wife has put up with my enthusiam for the great game of baseball!!!!! I have been working at the MONTREAL GENERAL HOSPITAL for 28 years with the last 18 years as a coroners assistant, hence the team name cadavers, Maybe that's why i can play in 4 leagues as the dead don't tell tales and let's just say there is a lot of down time. I've thoroughly enjoyed making all your aquintances.
Rick Bowman - Racine Travelers. (2001) Born and still am a Christian, Ricky J. Bowman aka Bo. I am 47 years old. I have two sons, Richard 18, who is in the United States Army, First Cav at Fort Hood Texas, and Ronny, a junior in high school looking to go ROTC with the Army. I have been playing strato since 1966 and in league's since MDL started some 20 plus years ago. I am a firefighter for the City of Racine, for the last 25 years. My duties at this point in time are code enforcement for the north side of our city and the Lt. in charge of the arson investigative team. I am also a member of the county arson task force team and on the juvenile fire setters board. My other hobbies are Bass fishing in northern Minnesota, were i hope to retire to in 4 and a half years. Cooking, yes you heard right i love to cook and golf. I have to say i have made many long lasting friends because of this strato game we play, and i hope it continues.
Don Chandler - Wyoming Cowboys.
Dominic Flory, aka Nick, aka Dusty - Durango Dirtbags. (2001) 51 and married to Jean, I have three children, Erin, who was a grad student at John Hopkins but is now going into social work in the New York City area, Brian, trying to start his own game company, and Jason, starting at the Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall of 2001. My wife and I graduated from the University of Dayton in '72, me with a degree in Computer Science, her in teaching, I'm now a web developer for a Fortune 500 company. I've been playing Strat since 1962 when my brother and I bought our first game. The thing I remember most from those days is him punching me in the arm anytime one of my guys would hit a home run. The Midwest Draft League was the first draft league I joined, in the spring of 1999. I also belong to the North American Winter Strato League, a new winter league started in 2001 and the United States Computer Baseball League. I've been a Yankee fan since 1959. My biggest outside interest is bowling with a 200+ average. I've coached and umpired baseball in the past.
Fred Lambrecht - Racine Fire. Fred is a firefighter and paramedic in Racine, a city just south of Milwaukee, WI. He is a founding member of Brassball. Fred has an associate's degree in fire science and is married with six grown children. He also has seven grandchildren, making for a full house around the holidays. Introduced to Strat-O-Matic by a nephew, Fred has clearly become a Strat-O-Matic fanatic, playing in four leagues in addition to managing the Racine Heat. Like many Wisconsin sports fans, Fred is a die-hard homer, following the Milwaukee and Wisconsin sports teams. Not surprisingly, Fred has fond memories of the Robin Yount era at Milwaukee's County Stadium, and watching "The Kid" give 110% every day.
Andy Rosenberg - Jersey Jolt. (2001) I am 48 years old. My introduction to Strat-O-Matic was in 1966, and I recall having to choose between Willie Mays (52 HR's) & Sandy Koufax (I think there was a walk at 5-6 & 5-7 amongst the strikeouts) in our draft- I took Willie. Three years later, college & hippie cooldom beckoned, and the game was shelved. Fifteen years later, while visiting the brother of a friend visiting from Chicago, lo and behold, Strat-O-Matic was sitting on the kitchen table. "Boy, I used to LOVE that game", I blurted out. "No shit, our league has an opening", was the reply, and an old obsession was renewed. When I am not busy fretting over the boxscores and getting "pissed" that the shutout one of my pitchers threw was an 8-hitter with 3 walks, I am an equipment salesman. I am single, with dog by my side (kids are for people who really can't have a canine). I also enjoy music, movies & travel. Please contact me if you are ever in Philadelphia.
Terry Rowan - Redwing Bulldogs. (2001) I am 38 years old and married to Debbie for 18 years. We were high school sweethearts and graduated together in 1983. We have 3 daughters, Tera, Jenna and Megan, who are 17, 16, and 14, and a son Tyler who is 12. Also have a dog, her name is Nala Joe, a black lab. She is great too. My hobbies include strat-o-matic baseball, fantasy football and I drove demolition derby cars for 10 years until my wife said that's enough of that, i loved it. I've worked at a casino in Redwing, MN, for the past 5 years. I drove trucks for 14 years before that and was also in the army right out of high school and the reserves for 4 years. I love strato, it is a great past time and good clean fun. I don't drink or smoke, that's good, huh? Except on holidays, then i have a few drinks. Love to watch my son and daughters play sports, that is great. Hope all you can experience that, nothing like it. My 16 year old daughter is deaf. She has not let that hold her back though as she has lettered in volleyball and basketball since she has been in 8th grade, a great athlete. My oldest daughter Tera is more into working and getting out of high school and my youngest daughter megan is too busy on the phone with her freinds and most of them boys. My wife is the best part of my life, she is my soul mate. They say there is someone out there for everbody and i was lucky to find mine, Well enough on my life hope you guys have a great life and happy in what you do now and the future.
John Wolfmeyer - Cuba Wildcats. (11/2002) I live in O'Fallon, MO, just west of St. Louis, with my wife Donna and daughter Elizabeth (Lizard). Strato has been a hobby of mine ever since the summer of 1975 when some friends who I grew up with started playing and we were all hooked. That year and almost every year after we would just about play anywhere and anytime. I remember many marathon nights and mini tournaments that lasted well into the next morning. I guess this was our version of an all night poker game. I have served in the US Navy Seabee's, went to College at the University of Kansas, (Rock Chalk Jayhawk!) and now work in project management for a company out of Atlanta called Arris Inc. I have a work at home position and travel as needed. Mostly I go to places like: Dallas, Atlanta, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, Chicago, Pittsburgh, & Denver but over this past year I have been sent to Chile once and Europe about 12 times. It is always great to see the world on someone else's nickel. What I do not like when I travel is the lack of U.S. sports. I just do not get into soccer at all! I still play ball but not like I used to. I used to play on a traveling softball team when I lived in Lawrence, Kansas, that did very well. We won Class B state twice and finished third in Class C regional's once in Colorado Springs. Those were the 120 game summers and I was not married. Now it is down to about 50 games a year and no competitive tournaments. I really miss them but this 42 year old body with a few extra pounds does not respond as well as it once did. My favorite teams are: The Baseball Cardinals (not a LaRussa Fan at all), The Kansas Jayhawks and the St. Louis Rams. It took me awhile to warm up them but a Super Bowl seems to help but I am not die hard with the Rams like the Jayhawks and Cardinals. I follow other sports but do not follow them like I do baseball. There is nothing better than baseball! I also like to play fantasy football. It really makes watching the games on Sunday a whole lot more fun. If you ever come through St. Louis, do not be shy and give me a call and hopefully we can catch a game and I will buy you a bottle of some blue collar Champaign - Budweiser.
Latest news - Nov. 02, my daughter enlisted into the U.S. Marines because we are so tough here at home. She really wants her independence and soon she will learn the cost of freedom! I am sure she will do well but I think she has seen too many movies.
